GBP Suspension Rescue Rescue Hub

Google Business Profile suspended? Start here.

By CED Solutions, LLC · Based on Google's help pages, checked October 27, 2026

Your profile dropped out of Search and Maps and you want to know why and what to do. This hub sorts the situation into Google's own categories, then points you to a step-by-step guide for yours. Everything here is free, and everything is sourced to Google's Business Profile Help pages.

Short version: do not create a new profile for the same business, and do not submit an appeal yet. Google says "appeals can only be submitted once," so first open the appeals tool, read the reason it shows, and fix the profile and your documents. Then appeal once.

The first 15 minutes

  1. Open Google's appeals tool (signed in to the Google Account that manages the profile) and look, but do not submit. Per Google it shows the date of the decision, the reason, a link to the violated policy, whether it can be appealed, and its status. Copy those five items somewhere.
  2. Do not create a new Business Profile for the same business. Google's page puts this under "Important."
  3. Check whether it is really a suspension. A failed verification, a rejected edit, and a review restriction are different things. Use the triage below.
  4. Check whether your business is eligible at all. Google says a business "must make in-person contact with customers during its stated hours." Online-only businesses and lead-generation companies are not eligible, and no appeal wording changes that.

Which suspension do I have? (quick triage)

Pick the line that sounds like your situation. No scripts or forms; each opens to an answer.

All my profiles disappeared at once, or Google emailed about my account

That points to an account-level restriction. Google says that when an account is restricted, "all Business Profiles associated with that account will be suspended." The order matters: the account is appealed first, the profile second. Read Google Account restricted: what to do first.

The tool shows a reason that says "deceptive content"

That label is common and tells you very little on its own. Read Suspended for deceptive content: what it can mean and what to check.

My address is a virtual office, mailbox, P.O. box, or coworking desk

Google says a rented mailing address where you don't operate "isn't eligible for a Business Profile," and that profiles set to a P.O. box "will have their profile suspended." Read Suspended over a virtual office or mailbox address.

I go to my customers (plumber, cleaner, HVAC, locksmith) and my address shows

Google says service-area businesses "should hide" their address. Read Service-area business suspended.

I'm being asked to verify, or my verification video was rejected

That is not a suspension. It is a verification problem with its own rules. Read Video verification failed: what Google requires.

I already appealed and it says "Not approved"

Google says an additional review may be possible "only if your reinstatement request is denied." Read Appeal denied: the additional review form.

I appealed or I'm about to, and I just need the steps

Read How to appeal a Google Business Profile suspension.

I have no idea why it happened

Read Why was my Google Business Profile suspended? A reason finder, which lays out the documented triggers next to what to check on your profile.

My profile is visible, but new reviews are blocked or a fake-review warning shows

That is a review restriction, not a suspension. Google describes these on its restrictions page, which includes the appeal link. Stop any review incentives or review gating before you appeal.

The types at a glance

Owners and agencies use terms like "soft suspension" and "hard suspension." Those are industry slang, not Google's wording, so this site uses the terms Google's help pages use.

What this site can't do

Only Google decides whether a profile is reinstated. We can't see inside your case, we don't have a back channel to Google, and we won't tell you a particular fix has a particular success rate, because no one outside Google has that data. What we can do is show you what Google has published, in order, so you spend your one appeal on a profile and a set of documents that are consistent. If an appeal can't help (an ineligible business, for example), we'll say so.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a suspended and a disabled Business Profile?

Google's help treats them together under one page, "Fix suspended or disabled profiles," and both use the same appeals tool. Its policy overview lists "Suspended profile" and "Disabled profile" separately but says the same thing about each: the profile must be reinstated before content can be successfully contributed to it.

Should I create a new profile while I wait?

No. Google's page says: "Do not create a new Business Profile for the same business."

How long does a Google appeal take?

Google says "appeal reviews and decisions can take up to 5 business days" and asks you not to submit multiple appeals for the same issue before you have a decision.

Can anyone guarantee my profile will be reinstated?

No. Only Google decides. Be cautious of anyone who promises a result.
